Modes of Provisioning at Open Window
Open Window (OW) uses a multimodal approach to learning and teaching, combining campus-mediated and virtually-mediated contact between lecturers and students.Â
- All students experience OW’s multimodal methods, but all virtual contact is synchronous; OW does not offer asynchronous distance learning. Â
- The balance between campus and virtual contact varies by subject:Â
Campus-mediated
Contact increases for subjects requiring hands-on access to professional equipment or facilities. Â
Virtually-mediated
ontact increases when it supports workflows, processes, or technical elements.
OW’s hybrid model
Operates on a rotational schedule (e.g., one week on campus, one week virtually), as outlined in the academic calendar.
OW structures contact time to optimise learning for each subject’s specific needs. All focused contact is supported through the Learning Management System (LMS), which provides:
